How many times have we heard "they are young they will get over it?" or "they will bounce back? Young children simply do not always bounce back. Their social-emotional development is affected by grief and trauma. Our goal is to provide them with support and a safe environment where they can share their feelings or even just know they are not alone.
The bond between siblings is said to be one of the strongest attachments we will have in our lifetime—a bond of unconditional love. Younger children are at risk for an earlier death, while older children experience survivor's guilt, anger, and fear. The loss of a sibling is the loss of one's most important connection and now they must learn to live with losing a piece of their past, present and future. We will strive to be their companion as they navigate their way through these feelings.
Now more than ever our grandparents need support and companionship. The responsibility of raising another generation is falling upon them more and more. They need respite, resources, and support. Our goal is to provide them with these things, helping to maybe just ease their responsibilities and give back to them.
Teachers, Early Childhood Providers, and other support professionals need support and resources too. So a future goal is to be able to provide these in the way of training, support groups and resource materials.
